Obituary for Ethel Mae Reed

On Sunday, September 15, 2019, Ethel Mae Reed received her crown in Heaven. She was a true servant of the Lord.

Born July 11, 1925 in Swandale, WV, she was preceded in death by her father, William Thomas Ramsey, her mother, Mary Ellen Taylor Ramsey, her loving husband, Arnold Dae Reed and her sisters, Hazel Edith Ramsey Taylor and Nellie Florence Ramsey Faulkner.

Ethel was a member of First Baptist Church, Rainelle, WV for well over 80 years. For 69 of those years, she was the organist and pianist for the church and sang in the choir when she wasn’t playing.

Ethel lived in Rainelle from 1934 until 2006 when she went to live with her son, Mike and his wife, Elizabeth in White Sulphur Springs, WV. She was with them until she went home to Heaven.

She will be greatly missed by her son, Michael L. Reed and his wife Elizabeth A. Shelton Reed. Besides her son and his wife, she will be remembered by her three grand-children, Kimberly Dawn Reed Mate and husband Christian, Chadwick Michael Reed and wife Kirstie and Brendon Michael Reed and his wife Christine.

Ethel was a very proud grandmother of Mike’s three children and Elizabeth’s two daughters, Ashley Ann Engelke and Faith Marie Burns. She had a total of twelve great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren.

Ethel loved music and continued playing at home for many years and singing in the church choir. She loved to listen to Mike’s band, Strum Sum or Mike and Elizabeth playing and singing together.
